About British Swim School Bay Area Houston
A position at British Swim School is more than just a job — it is an opportunity to be part of a mission-driven team helping families feel safer around water every day. We teach life-saving swim and survival skills that build confidence, create stronger swimmers, and make a lasting impact in the communities we serve.

We are building a culture rooted in excellence, teamwork, and a people-first philosophy. We believe in creating an environment where employees can grow professionally, bring their authentic selves to work, have fun, and take pride in meaningful work that changes lives.

The Position
At British Swim School, we teach fun swim lessons — but we are also serious about saving lives.  The Swim Instructor is responsible for delivering safe, engaging, and high-quality swim lessons while creating a positive and encouraging experience for swimmers and families. Instructors teach students of all ages using British Swim School’s fun, gentle, and progressive curriculum focused on water safety, survival skills, and confidence-building.

This role is ideal for dependable, energetic individuals who enjoy working with children and families, thrive in a team-oriented environment, and take pride in delivering exceptional customer experiences.

We are looking for team members who lead with positivity, professionalism, accountability, and a willingness to continuously learn and grow.

Typical Responsibilities
  • Teach safe, engaging, and high-quality swim lessons in accordance with British Swim School curriculum and safety standards.
  • Create a positive, supportive, and confidence-building environment for swimmers of all ages and abilities.
  • Build strong relationships with swimmers, families, and team members through professional, solution-oriented communication and exceptional customer service.
  • Arrive prepared, dependable, and ready to contribute positively to a team-focused, high-performing culture.
  • Maintain required certifications, complete ongoing training, and consistently follow operational and safety procedures.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma, equivalent, or currently in the process of completion.
  • Comfortable in and around the water; strong swimming skills are a plus and can be developed through training.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to follow direction, receive feedback, and maintain professionalism in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must maintain required certifications throughout employment.
  • Must complete all required British Swim School aquatics training and testing.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with children, coaching, teaching, customer service, or related service environments preferred.
  • Previous swimming experience preferred but not required.
  • Lifeguard, CPR, First Aid, and/or AED certifications preferred (may be obtained during training).
  • Previous experience delivering high-quality customer experiences strongly preferred.
Who Thrives Here
Successful team members at British Swim School Bay Area Houston are dependable, positive, solution-oriented, and committed to high standards and continuous improvement. We value professionalism, teamwork, accountability, ownership, and people who genuinely care about helping swimmers, families, and fellow team members succeed.

Our team members bring energy, integrity, strong communication, and a willingness to learn, grow, and contribute to a fun, supportive, and growth-focused culture.

More Than Swim Lessons
Here at British Swim School, we are more than just a fun, surface-level swim lesson provider. We strive to make a substantial impact within our communities to combat the tragically high child drowning statistics. We invest in quality team members to teach our lessons with the mindset that we are two schools in one — a survival school first and a learn-to-swim school second. Through this mission, we work to ensure that every person, regardless of age or ability, has the opportunity to become a safe and happy swimmer.
Compensation: $14.50 - $16.50 per hour
